Modern Slavery Act and Human Trafficking Statement (UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 – Section 54)
This statement is made on behalf of Abbott Lyon Ltd in respect of its financial year ending 31st March 2027 pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and published on our website in a prominent place, with a link from the homepage.
Abbott Lyon Ltd is committed to improving our practices to combat modern slavery and human trafficking in all areas of its business and supply chain. We recognise our responsibility to operate ethically and transparently and to take appropriate steps to ensure that forced labour, child labour, and human trafficking do not occur within our operations or supply network.
Our Business
Abbott Lyon is a UK-based e-commerce brand specialising in jewellery and accessories. As a mid-size organisation, Abbott Lyon employs approximately 90 people.
Our supply chain operates across the World, comprising a network of third-party manufacturers, packing suppliers, and logistics providers.
Products are sourced through direct sourcing from manufacturers and our approved supplier list, with supplier selection based on quality, cost, compliance, and ethical standards. Goods are produced and assembled by third-party manufacturers, primarily in China, Thailand and India, with additional suppliers supporting packaging, components, and fulfilment activities.
Once manufactured, products are distributed via third-party logistics providers from our warehouse in the UK or to our wholesale partners. Distribution channels primarily consist of direct-to-consumer ecommerce sales, with products shipped from third-party warehouses to customers across the UK and rest of the world.
Our Commitment
Abbott Lyon maintains a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to acting with integrity in all business relationships and, where appropriate, implementing effective controls to identify and mitigate risks within our supply chain.
Abbott Lyon does this through a combination of long-term partnerships, framework agreements, and preferred supplier arrangements. Key suppliers are engaged under our terms and conditions which require them to share ethical audits on an annual basis , which include expectations relating to compliance with applicable laws and ethical labour standards.
Operationally, core functions such as design, development, brand management and trading are managed in-house, while manufacturing, packaging and logistics are outsourced to third-party suppliers across the UK and Asia. Oversight of these third-party arrangements is supported by supplier due diligence processes, onboarding checks, contractual compliance obligations, periodic assessments, and site visits.
Our approach is supported by internal policies and supplier expectations, including the Anti-Slavery & Human Rights Policy, testing & quality manual and supplier manual (due completion end of Sep 2027) which set out standards relating to ethical labour practices and responsible sourcing.
Abbott Lyon undertakes due diligence when engaging suppliers and throughout supplier relationships to identify and address risks of modern slavery within our operations and supply chain. This includes:
● mapping elements of our supply chain to identify potential high-risk areas;
● supplier onboarding checks and verification of manufacturing locations;
● independent third-party labour audits where appropriate;
● periodic supplier assessments and Abbott Lyon factory visits; and
● on-going engagement with suppliers to ensure adherence to ethical labour standards.
In terms of labour supply, workers across the supply chain are primarily recruited and engaged by thirdparty suppliers, including manufacturers and logistics providers. Recruitment practices may vary by jurisdiction. Abbott Lyon expects suppliers to adopt fair recruitment practices and comply with applicable local labour laws and adhere to recognised ethical standards and guidance issued by independent audit and certification bodies, including organisations such as Sedex, SMETA, Amfori BSCI, and other relevant industry-recognised frameworks.
The organisation recognises that, given the multi-tiered nature of its supply chain, it may have limited visibility over the full labour supply chain, including the use of agents or intermediaries by suppliers. Employees involved in product, operations and sourcing functions visit factories and require suppliers to provide updates on corrective action plans arising from audits.
Supply Chain Risk Management
We recognise that risks of labour exploitation can vary depending on geography, sector and labour intensity. Abbott Lyon adopts a risk-based approach to supply chain oversight and may conduct additional engagement, monitoring or verification activities where elevated risks are identified.
Where risks are identified, suppliers are required to address concerns through corrective actions and ongoing monitoring.
Internal Governance
Responsibility for overseeing ethical sourcing and supply chain practices sits within Abbott Lyon’s senior management and sourcing functions. Cross-functional collaboration between procurement, operations and product teams supports oversight of supplier relationships and compliance expectations.
Training and Awareness
Abbott Lyon recognises the importance of ensuring that employees involved in Sourcing, Procurement, Product and Operations activities understand the risks and indicators of modern slavery and know how to escalate concerns.
As part of the continued development of our responsible sourcing framework, Abbott Lyon is introducing role-specific modern slavery guidance and training for employees in these functions. Interim written guidance will support employees in identifying potential indicators of modern slavery and escalating concerns to senior management, with formal role-specific training being implemented during FY27.
Training completion will be recorded and monitored and, once implemented, will form part of the induction process for relevant new starters, with appropriate refresher training provided periodically. The scope and effectiveness of training will be reviewed as part of Abbott Lyon's ongoing assessment of its modern slavery controls.
Monitoring and Effectiveness
Abbott Lyon monitors the effectiveness of its approach through ongoing oversight of supplier relationships which includes tracking metrics such as supplier visits & audits conducted, instances of non-compliance identified, and completion of corrective actions, supplier adherence to ethical standards and the resolution of any identified issues.
Continuous Improvement
Abbott Lyon is committed to continuously strengthening its approach to responsible sourcing and ethical supply chain management. This includes enhancing supplier engagement, strengthening due diligence processes, and maintaining oversight of supply chain risks.
