The average ring size for women in the UK falls between sizes K and N. However, it's important to note that ring sizes can vary widely depending on several factors like temperature and style. The weather can affect finger size, as fingers tend to swell in warmer weather and contract when it’s cooler.

While sizes K to N may be considered average, you should always measure the specific finger for an accurate fit when purchasing or ordering a ring.

Choosing the perfect ring

If you’re looking for the perfect ring, whatever your ring size, there are a few things that you need to think about.

  1. While looks are important, ensuring the ring is comfortable to wear daily is important, too. It shouldn't be too loose so that it slips off easily or too tight to be comfortable. Certain ring styles, like wide bands and intricate designs, might need a slightly larger size. Keep this in mind when picking out your rings.
  2. If you're unsure of the exact size, go for resizable options or designs with adjustable bands to accommodate slight variations. We have plenty to choose from.
  3. Think about lifestyle and daily activities too. For someone with an active lifestyle or who works with their hands, low-profile rings with smooth edges might be more practical and less prone to snagging or getting in the way.
  4. If the ring features gemstones, consider the size and setting style. Larger gemstones or high-profile settings may require a larger ring size to accommodate the extra space needed and to prevent the stones from rubbing against other fingers.
  5. A bonus tip from our Head of Product Design, Kirsty Brown: "You want a ring to slide nice and evenly over the knuckle onto your finger. Some people have larger knuckles than they do fingers, and they need to make sure it'll fit over the knuckle. Other people's knuckles can be the same size or actually smaller than the rest of their finger. So, if you're one of the lucky ones and your knuckle is slightly larger than your finger, as long as your ring fits nicely over your knuckle and then fits nicely on your finger, you won't risk losing it, but it also won't restrict blood flow."

Whether it's for a special occasion or an everyday accessory, finding the right ring size is important. Remember, when in doubt, it's best to ask a jeweller for personalised guidance and expertise.
