Here are a few tips on how to get the best fingerprint image:
- Open the wipe, and swipe across your chosen finger or thumb.
- Press directly downwards: gently press your finger directly downwards onto the paper without rolling or moving it (unlike what you see on TV, rolling causes smudges!). Your prints will appear and darken over a few minutes.
- Make a series of prints: After one swipe with the wipe, try making a row of prints. You'll get a variety of images with different darkness levels and you'll be able to pick the best image.
- Keep printing!. Re-swipe the wipe and take more images so that you can choose the print with the best clarity.
- Wash you hands with soapy water when finished.
- Take a photo of your clearest print in natural lighting without shadows. You can only upload one photo. Make sure the image is crisp and clear to get the best engraving.
- Little fingers need a gentle touch: for little ones, press their finger very gently on the paper. Their tiny ridges can blur easily! You might also get a clearer print from a different part of their finger, like further down.
